GIVE LIKE JESUS
The Church Defined
Scott Young ~ Pastor of Hope
The Lord Jesus himself said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” – Acts 20:35
LEARNING GENEROSITY FROM JESUS
1. Give To Honor God
Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also … 24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. – Matthew 6:20,21,24
Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; - Proverbs 3:9 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
2. Give To See The Impossible Become Possible
But he answered them, “You give them something to eat.” And they said to him, “Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give it to them to eat?” – Mark 6:37 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
3. Give To Overcome Materialism
And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. 44 For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.” – Mark 12:43-44 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
4. Give To Increase Blessings
Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you. – Luke 6:38
Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. – Hebrews 12:2 ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
