1.12.14 // Did God Come to Earth?

John 14:6 - I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

(Religious Leaders) “Who besides God can forgive sins?” … 

(Jesus) “I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” (GWT)

• Jesus Accepted Worship

John 20:27 - Jesus said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

2. PROMISES: JESUS MADE GOD SIZED PROMIES

• My Words Will Last Forever

Matthew 24:35 - Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. 

• My Followers Will Enjoy Eternal Life

John 10:27-28 - My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. 

• My Life Pays For Your Life

Mark 10:45 - For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

• My Way Is The Way To God

3. CLAIMS: JESUS CLAIMED TO BE GOD

• Jesus Claimed God’s Glory

Isaiah 42:8 - I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another.

 

John 17:5 - And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began. 

• Jesus Claimed To Do God’s Work

Mark 2:5-7 - Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.” But some of the teachers of religious law who were sitting there thought to themselves, “What is he saying? This is blasphemy! Only God can forgive sins!”

John 5:22 - Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has 

entrusted all judgment to the Son. 

 

• Jesus Claimed To Be God

John 8:58 - “I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “before 

Abraham was born, I am!” (John 8:58)

John 10:30 - I and the Father are one.
