TEN STEPS FOR SUCCESSFUL GOAL SETTING

Genesis 24

1. Determine Your Position

Genesis 24:1 - Now Abraham was old, well advanced in age; and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things. 

2. Define Your Purpose

Genesis 24:4 - But you shall go to my country and to my family, and take a wife for my son Isaac. 

3. Discover A Promise

Genesis 24:7 - The Lord … spoke to me and promised me on oath, saying, ‘To your offspring I will give this land,’ 

4. Describe The Profit

Genesis 24:7b - … and He (the Lord) will see to it that you find a wife there for my son. 

5. Desire In Prayer

Genesis 24:12 - Then he prayed, “Lord, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today…” 

6. Diagnose The Problems

Genesis 24:21 – Find The Right Girl; (v. 49) Get The Parents’ Consent; (v. 58) Convince The Girl To Go 

7. Design A Plan

Genesis 24:10-15 – Set A Test; Show The Wealth; Get Invited Home; Share His Purpose; Pop The Question. 

8. Discipline Your Personality

Genesis 24:12 – Discipline Your Decisions; (v. 33) Discipline Your Appetites; (v. 49) Discipline Your Words; (v. 56) Discipline Your Time 

9. Deposit The Price

Genesis 24:53 - Then the servant brought out jewelry of silver, jewelry of gold, and clothing, and gave them to Rebekah. He also gave precious things to her brother and to her mother. 

10. Depend On People

Genesis 24:49 - So tell me—will you or won’t you show unfailing love and faithfulness to my master? Please tell me yes or no, and then I’ll know what to do next.
