WHY ARE PEOPLE RELUCTANT 

TO LOOK AT JESUS

1.His Brightness Challenges Our Lives

(Jesus said) “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  (John 8:12)

2.His Deity Threatens Our Freedom

If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for me, you will find true life. (Luke 9:24 NLT)

3.His Church Is So Unlike Him

Everyone will know that you are my disciples because of your love for each other. (John 13:35)

WHAT DO WE SEE WHEN WE LOOK AT JESUS?

1.He Is A Healer And Savior

Large crowds followed him, and he healed them there. 

(Matthew 19:2) 

“Zacchaeus!” he said. “Quick, come down! For I must be a guest in your home today.” (Luke 19:5 NLT)

2.He Makes God Real

Whoever sees me sees the One who sent me.

(John 12:45 NCV)

3.His Life Is Perfect 

(Jesus) faced all of the same temptations we do, yet he did not sin. (Hebrews 4:15 NLT)

4.His Power Overcomes Evil

Jesus called the twelve apostles together and gave them power and authority over all demons and the ability to heal sicknesses. He sent the apostles out to tell about God’s kingdom and to heal the sick. (Luke 9:1-2 NCV)

5.His Love Is Complete 

Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love. (John 13:1)

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. (John 13:34)
