4-28-19 || WHY DO BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE?

Job 1:1 – “There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job. That man was without blame. He was right and good, he feared God, and turned away from sin.”
Job 1:14-19 – “They stole all the animals and killed all the farmhands…burned up your sheep and all the shepherd…stolen your camels and killed your servants…all your children are dead.”
Job 2:7 – “So Satan left the Lord’s presence, and he struck Job with terrible boils from head to foot.”

1. Because We Live In A Broken World
“One day the members of the heavenly court came to present themselves before the Lord, and the Accuser, Satan, came with them.” – Job 1:6

2. Because We Can Lose Our Focus
“What I always feared has happened to me. What I dreaded has come true.” – Job 3:25
“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” - Colossians 3:2

3. Because We Learn In Our Valleys
“I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes.” – Job 42:5
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” - James 1:2-4

4. Because We Need To See The Big Picture
“When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before!” – Job 42:10
