RELEASING THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS
1. Forgive Until You Have Completely Forgiven
“Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, ‘Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?’ Jesus answered, ‘I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.’” – Matthew 18:21-22
2. Forgiveness Is About Debt
“Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.” – Matthew 18:23
“And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.” - Matthew 6:12
3. Forgiveness Needs No Request
“At this the servant fell on his knees before him. ‘Be patient with me,’ he begged, ‘and I will pay back everything.’
The servant’s master took pity on him, canceled the debt and let him go.” – Matthew 18:26-27
4. Forgiven People Need To Forgive
“But when that servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred silver coins. He grabbed him and began to choke him. ‘Pay back what you owe me!’ he demanded. His fellow servant fell to his knees and begged him, ‘Be patient with me, and I will pay it back.’” – Matthew 18:28-29
“Put up with one another. Forgive one another if you are holding something against someone. Forgive, just as the Lord forgave you.” – Colossians 3:13
5. Forgiveness Sets Us Free
“The master was very angry and put the servant in prison to be punished until he could pay everything he owed.” – Matthew 18:34
“And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” - Mark 11:25
“If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
– 1 John 1:8-9
