A FEW MISCONCEPTIONS …

1. My Growth Will Prove I’m In The Family Of God

2 Corinthians 5:17 - Whoever is a believer in Christ is a new creation. The old way of living has disappeared. A new way of living has come into existence.

2. When I Grow God Will Love Me More 

Ephesians 2:4 - But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, [5] even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.

3. The Longer I’m A Christian The More I’ll Grow

Hebrews 5:12 - You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food.

4. I Just Need To Work Harder

James 4:6 - But God gives us even more grace, as the Scripture says, “God is against the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.”

GROWING IN CHRIST

1. The Discipline of Daily Devotions

James 4:8 - Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Philippians 4:8 - Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

2. The Discipline of Worship

Hebrews 10:25 - Some people have gotten out of the habit of meeting for worship, but we must not do that. We should keep on encouraging each other, especially since you know that the day of the Lord’s coming is getting closer.

3. The Discipline of Fellowship

Acts 2:42 - And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

Acts 2:46 - And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts.

4. The Discipline of Service

1 Peter 4:10 - Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
