CHOSEN

1 Peter 2:9 - But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
HOW GOD SEES YOU
1. Chosen
John 15:16 - You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
2. Royal Priesthood
Revelation 1:6 – [Jesus] has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
3. Holy Nation
Exodus 19:6 - And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”

John 1:12 - But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
John 3:3 - Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
FAITH FOR MORE
Matthew 6:9-10 – [9] Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. [10] Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.
1. There is More Provision
Matthew 6:11 - Give us this day our daily bread.

“Six Days Before Passover … ” (John 12:1)
1. Focus On Jesus
John 12:3 - Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.
2. Believe For Better
John 12:12 – 13[12]The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ The King of Israel!”
3. Share The Good News
John 12:17 - So the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead, continued to tell others about Him. John 12:19 - The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, “You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!”
DIFFERENT REACTIONS TO JESUS
- Some People Hear Something Else
John 12:28 -29[28] Then a voice spoke from heaven, saying, “I have already brought glory to my name, and I will do so again.” 29 When the crowd heard the voice, some thought it was thunder, while others declared an angel had spoken to him.
- Some People Worry About Others
John 12:42 -43[42] But many believed in Jesus, even many of the leaders. But because of the Pharisees, they did not say they believed in him for fear they would be put out of the synagogue. 43 They loved praise from people more than praise from God.
- Some People Believe And Walk In The Light
John 12:44 -46[44] Then Jesus cried out, “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. 45 The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me. 46 I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.

I John 5:3-5,9- 21 (NIV)
1 John 5:13-15 – “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us- whatever we ask- we know that we have what we asked of him.”
1. Eternal Life Connects us to God’s Heart
1 John 5:3-5,19 - “For this is love for God, to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome. For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world –even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. We know that we are children of God.”
2. Eternal Life Satisfies our Every Desire, Ultimate Joy
1 John 5:9-11 - “We accept human testimony, but God’s testimony is greater, because it is the testimony of God, which he has given about his Son. Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony. Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because they have not believed the testimony that God has given about his Son. And this is the testimony; God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life, whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.”
Do you really believe God’s testimony is greater?
3. Eternal Life Means we can ask questions and still know him who is true
1 John 5:18-20 - “We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them. We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. We know also that the Son of God has come
and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.”
How Do You Know that your Heart is connected to Jesus and you have eternal life?

1 John 4:16 - We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.
LIVING IN GOD’S LOVE
1. We Can Know Truth
1 John 4:1 - Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
1 John 4:2 - By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God.
2. We Can Overcome
1 John 4:4 - You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
3. We Can Cast Out Fear
1 John 4:18 - There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
1 John 4:17 - Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world
4. We Can See What Is Important
1 John 4:19 - We love because God loved us first. [20] But if we say we love God and don’t love each other, we are liars. We cannot see God. So how can we love God, if we don’t love the people we can see? [21] The commandment that God has given us is: “Love God and love each other!”

1 John 1:4 - These things we write to you that your joy may be full.
1. This Family Has A Good Father
1 John 3:1 - Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
2. This Family Has A Destiny
1 John 3:2 - Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. [3] And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
1 John 3:8 - He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
3. This Family Has Love
1 John 3:14 - If we love our brothers and sisters who are believers, it proves that we have passed from death to life. But a person who has no love is still dead.
- Love Means Getting Along
1 John 3:15 - Anyone who hates another brother or sister is really a murderer at heart. And you know that murderers don’t have eternal life within them.
- Love Means Sacrifice
1 John 3:16 - This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters
- Love Means Action
1 John 3:17 - But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?
1 John 3:18 - My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

1 John 1: 5 - This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.
1 John 1:7 - But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
1 John 2:8 - Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining.
1 John 2:9 - He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now.
1 John 2:10 - He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.
OVERCOMING IN THIS WORLD
1. Love The Light
1 John 2:15 - Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
2. Win Over The World
1 John 2:16 - For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.
3. Emphasize The Eternal
1 John 2:17 - And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

1. Because…your sins are forgiven

LOVE BRINGS JOY
Breaking the Chains of Shame

1 John 2:1 - My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.
1. The PURPOSE of Shame – REPENTANCE
Romans 6:21-22 - What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.
2. The PROBLEM with Shame – ISOLATION
1 John 1:8 - If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
3. The POWER of Shame – BONDAGE
Galatians 5:1 - Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.
4. The PLACE of breaking Shame’s chains – The CROSS
1 John 2:12 - I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake.
5. The PURE JOY of NO Shame – FREE, CLEAN, LOVED
1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness
1 John 1:7 - But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
