1. You Will Encounter Evil Spirits
Mark 5:1-2 - Then they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes. And when He [Jesus] had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit.
Mark 6:7 - And He summoned the twelve and began to send them out in pairs, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits.
Luke 9:1 - And He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to heal diseases.
Luke 10:17 - The seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name."
2. Evil Spirits Will Create Problems
John 10:10 - The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
Mark 5:3-5 - [He] had his dwelling among the tombs; and no one could bind him, not even with chains, because he had often been bound with shackles and chains. And the chains had been pulled apart by him, and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones.
3. Christ’s Power Brings Victory
Mark 5:8 -9 For He said to him, “Come out of the man, unclean spirit!” Then He asked him, “What is your name?” And he answered, saying, “My name is Legion; for we are many.”
4. Jesus Replaces Confusion With Peace
Mark 5:15 - Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid.

JESUS GETS ANOINTED

Pastor Mark Groover
God never separates His presence from His process.
As a worship community, we have embraced God’s permission but we have not taken the time to learn the process.
Psalm 100:1-5 - Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! [2] Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. [3] It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; [a] We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. [4] Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. [5] For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.
1. Sacrificial Worship
A key principle of worship is that it will cost you something.
Mark 13:4-5 – [4] But there were some who were indignant among themselves, and said, “Why was this fragrant oil wasted? [5] For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor.” And they criticized her sharply.
You cannot come and TRULY worship Jesus and leave unchanged. It will cost you to worship Jesus, and that cost is change.
2. Significant Form Worship
Psalm 66:1-3 (NIV) – [1] Shout for joy to God, all the earth! [2] Sing the glory of his name; make his praise glorious. [3] Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies cringe before you.”
The importance is not the form of worship, but the object of worship.
Mark 13:6 - But Jesus said, “Let her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a beautiful thing to Me.” (NIV)
Worship recognizes the presence of Jesus. It celebrates not only what He has done and who He is, but His presence with us. You are always going to imitate the object of your affection.
Luke 10:38-42 – [38] As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. [39] Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught. [40] But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.” [41] But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! [42] There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
If you are so busy with activity that you cannot worship, you and your activity are the focus of your worship.
Both Mary and Martha were believers in the one true God. But, their walk was not the same. Martha knows how whereas Mary knows Him.
3. Sustaining Worship
Mark 13:9 - “Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.”
Luke 7:36-50
We are people called to worship Christ every day of the week, to sacrifice in our worship, to make worship a significant portion of our lives, and to understand that worship sustains us.

JESUS AND THE HOLE IN THE ROOF

Pastor Holly Russo
1. Does your life allow for interruptions?
…He was preaching the word to them. (Mark 2:2)
..and when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay. (Mark 2:4)
2. Does your faith Dig?
Some men came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. (Mark 2:3-4)
Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts, “Why does this man speak like that? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?” (Mark 2:6-7)
But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”- he said to the paralytic - “I say to you, rise, pick up your bed, and go home.” (Mark 2:10-11)
3. Do your eyes see people’s greatest needs?
And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them. (Luke 5:17)
“I say to you, rise, pick up your bed, and go home.” And he rose and immediately picked up his bed and went out before them all, so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, “We never saw anything like this!” (Mark 2:11-12)
And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” (Mark 2:5)
4. Does your compassion move you into action
And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. (Mark 2:1)
And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” (Mark 2:5)
